Using type as a graphic, or using the shapes and attributes of type to create a composition. Concentrating on a main focal point in each composition, i used contrast in space and dimension to come up with a few ideas. Below are three of my favorites. Enjoy! =)
As a project, we were to create a self map of our experiences and what we use and things that are important to us in our daily lives: like cellphones, education, food, family, etc. The second part of the project was to create a ‘time-experience’ (an experience over time… a movie. lol) showing those attributes and presenting our spirit. The goal is to create a short clip which captivates using emotion as a tool and try to get a ‘wow’ from the viewer. Dunno if i achieved that, but i had a lot of fun making my visual essay. Learned in less than a day, on my own, how to use imovie. harder than i thought. haha. enjoy.
I’m not sure if you know, but you know that homeless guy who’s always sitting at the corner near University and Dundas? I walk by him all the time when going to and from school and he always asks if i have change… i always say ‘no’. Especially now, during the cold weathers, i always feel bad, thinking, ‘i should’ve just given him a quarter at least’, but never do.
On the way back from class, i saw a woman, no older than 28, give the homeless guy her jacket. It was one of those long down-filled jackets that go down to the floor. She just stopped, looked at him, took her jacket off and put it around the guy. She crouched down as they spoke for a bit, shook hands, then parted.
She was wearing a white sweater and jeans.
I thought to myself, who awesome is she feeling right now. It’s fucking freezing, but how awesome would i feel? How awesome would HE feel? (I dont mean God, although i’m sure He’d feel pretty awesome too. lol).
Next week, i’m going to put an extra quarter in my pocket to drop in the guy’s cup on the way to/from school.
